make sure the marshals are highly visible.
make sure runners have correct kit.
check the weather so you know what equipment to bring and so the marshals and runners know what to wear.

make sure the runners know where they are running by using cones and people to tell them where to run so they know the track.
good comunication between the marshals.
make sure all runners run the correct root.
